Calibrate review

Written by Elena Voss, Metabolic Health Editor

Elena Voss is a mother writing for mothers, not a treating clinician, and holds no medical license. Prices and terms come from the company's own published pages. This is background reading, not medical advice.

Calibrate is an insurance-first program, not a cash pharmacy. You pay $199 a month for coaching, a video visit with a clinician, lab review and an app, with a three-month minimum ($597) before you can cancel. The medication is a separate bill. Its clinicians prescribe only brand-name GLP-1s (Wegovy, Zepbound, Mounjaro, the Foundayo pill) through your insurance, and Calibrate says most commercially insured members pay $25 a month or less once the deductible is met. Without coverage or with a high deductible, that number climbs fast. It serves all 50 states and DC, lists PCOS as a qualifying condition, and will not enroll anyone pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy within the year.

How we scored Calibrate

Every factor comes from Calibrate's own published pricing, disclosures and oversight, and the six combine into the 69/100 Metabolic-Fit Score on our weighted six-factor framework. Commissions don't change a provider's score.

Postpartum & breastfeeding guidance74/100 · Fair

No postpartum or breastfeeding framing — a generic weight program.

PCOS & hormonal fit70/100 · Weak

Thin on the hormonal picture that drives many mothers' weight.

Clinical oversight & labs86/100 · Strong

Named clinicians and pharmacies with real, verifiable oversight.

True monthly cost42/100 · Weak

Cost is unpredictable or sits at the premium end.

Ongoing support84/100 · Solid

Standard support — enough to stay on track, not high-touch.

Cancellation fairness46/100 · Weak

Exit terms are the weak point: lock-in, notice periods, or a cancellation you have to chase.

How we checked this review

What we like

  • Brand-name medication only, with insurance handled for you
  • Every member starts with labs and a video visit with a clinician
  • One-on-one video coaching and a structured curriculum
  • Clear rules that exclude pregnancy, breastfeeding and planned pregnancy within a year
  • PCOS is a named qualifying condition
  • Available in all 50 states and DC, and HSA/FSA eligible

The caveats

  • Three-month minimum: $597 before you can cancel, with no refunds once a term is paid
  • Medication and labs are billed on top of the $199 membership
  • No published self-pay price for anyone without coverage
  • High-deductible plans pay full brand price until the deductible is met
  • No compounded option
  • Its pages disagree on whether the first clinician visit is 20 or 30 minutes

A coaching program first, a prescription second

Calibrate isn't trying to be the cheapest vial on the internet. It sells a habit program, which it calls the Metabolic Reset, and a GLP-1 prescription is one part of it. You start with lab work and an intake, meet a Calibrate coach on video, then see a clinician on video to review your labs and set a plan. After that come one-on-one coaching sessions, a curriculum on food, sleep, exercise and emotional health, an app, and a smart scale in the welcome kit.

Two bills, and only one of them is printed

  • The program: $199 a month, with a required three-month first term. That's $597 before you can leave, and paid terms are not refunded. After that it renews month to month.
  • The medication: billed through your health insurance. Calibrate says most members with commercial insurance pay $25 a month or less once the deductible is met.
  • Labs: also billed through insurance, not included in the $199.
  • No insurance, or a high deductible: this is where it gets expensive. Brand-name GLP-1s cost full price until your deductible is met, and Calibrate publishes no self-pay price. It says it can review lower-cost self-pay options at your visit.

If your employer plan covers brand GLP-1s, the math can work out well: about $224 a month for coaching, a clinician and your medication. Without that coverage, price the medication on its own first. Our guide to what GLP-1s cost with and without insurance walks through both.

Brand-name only, by choice

Calibrate's clinicians prescribe Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound, Mounjaro and the Foundayo pill, and say they won't prescribe compounded GLP-1s because those aren't FDA-approved and can vary between pharmacies. An oral option is on the table if injections don't suit you. If a medication runs short, its clinical team says it will work with you on a dose change or a switch to another GLP-1 your insurance covers.

A clear line on pregnancy and nursing

Calibrate's own eligibility rules say a member must not be pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant in the next year. It says so plainly on its FAQ and how-it-works pages. If you're still nursing, or hoping for another baby soon, Calibrate will turn you away, and that is a safety line, not a snub. Our GLP-1s and breastfeeding guide explains why the timing matters.

PCOS (which Calibrate now calls pmos) is one of the conditions that qualifies you at a BMI of 27 or higher, and labs come first for everyone, which helps if insulin resistance is part of your picture.

Before you sign

Call your insurer and ask whether Wegovy or Zepbound is covered for weight loss and what your deductible is. That one answer decides whether Calibrate is a $224 month or a much bigger one. Read the money-back guarantee too: it requires 12 straight months in the program. If you'd rather compare a cash-pay route, CoreAge Rx, a featured partner, is one place to start.

The bottom line for mothers

Best for: A mom with employer insurance that covers brand GLP-1s, done with nursing and not planning another baby this year, who wants one-on-one coaching and a real clinician on video.

Calibrate, answered

What will Calibrate really cost me?
Two bills. The program is $199 a month with a three-month minimum, $597 in total before you can cancel. The medication and labs go through your health insurance on top of that. Calibrate says most members with commercial insurance pay $25 a month or less for the medication after the deductible, but on a high-deductible plan you pay the full brand price until that deductible is met.
Does Calibrate prescribe compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide?
No. Its clinicians prescribe only brand-name GLP-1s such as Wegovy, Zepbound, Mounjaro and the Foundayo pill. If you have no coverage, ask at the first visit which self-pay option they'd use, because no self-pay price is published.
Can I join while breastfeeding or trying for another baby?
Not yet. Calibrate's own eligibility rules exclude anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy in the next year. That's a clear line, and it means Calibrate fits best once nursing is done and the family feels complete for now.
Does Calibrate work for PCOS?
PCOS is one of the conditions Calibrate lists for eligibility at a BMI of 27 or higher, and every member starts with lab work and a video visit with a clinician. It does not describe a separate PCOS program, but labs come first.
Is the money-back guarantee real?
There is one, with conditions. Calibrate says that if you stay in the program for 12 months in a row and don't lose at least 10% of your body weight, you may be eligible for money back. Read the guarantee terms before you count on it.

Pricing, states and verification reflect Calibrate's public disclosures at last review; the Metabolic-Fit Score is our editorial judgment per the published methodology. This is background reading, not medical advice — GLP-1 medications are not established as safe in pregnancy or breastfeeding. See our medical disclaimer and how we're funded.
