How we scored JumpstartMD
Every factor comes from JumpstartMD's own published pricing, disclosures and oversight, and the six combine into the 57/100 Metabolic-Fit Score on our weighted six-factor framework. Commissions don't change a provider's score.
No postpartum or breastfeeding framing — a generic weight program.
Thin on the hormonal picture that drives many mothers' weight.
Reasonable oversight, though some program details aren't public.
Cost is unpredictable or sits at the premium end.
Support is thin once the prescription ships.
Exit terms are the weak point: lock-in, notice periods, or a cancellation you have to chase.
How we checked this review
Online care is $99 a month and clinic care $199 a month, with assessment and medication separate. Obtain the full prescribed-dose quote and patient agreement before enrolling.
What we like
- Online and in-person California care
- Assessment includes laboratory testing and a clinician treatment plan
- Ongoing lifestyle and nutrition coaching
- Brand-name and other medication choices; medication is not mandatory
- Names PerfectRx as its compounded-prescription pharmacy partner
The caveats
- Membership excludes medication
- Published daily drug estimates apply to introductory dosing and vary with treatment
- Cancellation terms sit in a separate patient agreement; closing the app account does not cancel membership
- California service area limits availability
JumpstartMD offers a continuing California care relationship
JumpstartMD is a California weight-management practice with clinic and online options. Its appeal is the continuing care around the prescription: a clinician assessment, laboratory work, nutrition support and progress review. For a mother who wants an appointment-based relationship, that structure may be more useful than a service focused mainly on ordering the next vial.
The practical decision starts with where you live and how you want to receive care. The published program describes fourteen California clinics and online care across California. Confirm whether your appointments will be remote or in person, how often you will meet, and whether the available times fit your working week before comparing medication prices.
Membership pays for care; medication costs extra
The main site lists online weight-loss membership at $99 a month and clinic membership at $199 a month. It separates the initial assessment, advertised at a temporary $79 against a regular $379 price. Medication is excluded from membership. The assessment includes lab testing, a clinician appointment and a treatment plan; body-composition tracking is an in-clinic feature.
Those figures should be considered in separate columns when planning your budget. Ask for the first charge, the next recurring care charge and the prescribed medication charge. If you choose clinic care, consider the time and transport involved as well as the membership difference. A cheaper remote membership only helps if it provides the type of follow-up you actually want.
The daily medication estimate cannot settle the total
A separate weight-loss landing page advertises semaglutide from $3.53 a day and tirzepatide from $5.34 a day. Its footnote ties those rounded estimates to the lowest introductory dosing and says higher doses cost more. The published estimates do not provide a reproducible ongoing monthly prescription quote.
Ask for the price at the dose your clinician expects to prescribe and at later doses you might need. Request the package length and billing period too. Avoid multiplying a rounded starter-day figure into an annual budget. A reliable comparison uses the complete cost over the same period, including membership, medication and any repeat assessment charges. Our cost guide explains those separate parts of the bill.
Make the clinical support concrete
The program describes clinician supervision, coaching and medication management. That can support a broader discussion about eating patterns, symptoms and sustainable routines. It does not prove a particular outcome for you. Ask what happens during follow-up and how the team handles an uncomfortable symptom between appointments.
The practice also offers hormone care. If weight changes overlap with perimenopause symptoms, ask whether the same clinician can assess both concerns and whether a second membership or treatment charge applies. The existence of two programs does not mean their services or prescriptions are bundled. Bring a list of current medications and the questions you most need answered to the first clinical visit.
The practice names its compounded-prescription pharmacy
JumpstartMD names PerfectRx as its compounded-medication pharmacy partner. The practice says it charges for those prescriptions while the pharmacy ships them. Its privacy notice also describes the medical care the practice provides. That makes the clinical program distinct from a storefront that only introduces you to unrelated services, although your own treating clinician and prescribed product still need to be confirmed.
Ask whether the prescription being discussed is a commercial brand or a compounded preparation, who will explain its instructions and whom to contact about delivery. A pharmacy name gives you something concrete to check; it does not establish an independent inspection result or prove that a particular formulation is suitable for you.
Read the membership agreement before you enroll
JumpstartMD’s platform terms identify JumpstartMD, Inc. and explicitly distinguish closing an app account from ending the paid membership. Membership termination is governed by a separate patient agreement available through the account or on request. Deleting the app is therefore not a cancellation method.
Request that agreement before joining and identify the notice deadline, renewal date and any minimum commitment. Keep a copy of the cancellation confirmation if you leave. JumpstartMD is most compelling when California access, clinician follow-up and coaching matter enough to justify the additional care fee. It is harder to judge on price alone until you have the complete medication quote and the membership terms in hand.
The bottom line for mothers
Best for: California adults who value continuing clinician care and coaching, with the option of in-person visits.

JumpstartMD, answered
- Does the JumpstartMD membership include medication?
- No. The main site lists online weight-loss care at $99 a month and clinic care at $199 a month, with medication excluded. The initial assessment is also separate. Request the complete care-and-prescription quote before joining.
- What does the advertised assessment cost cover?
- The current promotional weight-loss assessment is $79 against a regular $379 price. The main site lists a clinician visit, a 60-biomarker lab panel, a treatment plan and in-clinic body-composition tracking. It is not the recurring monthly drug price.
- Which pharmacy fills compounded prescriptions?
- JumpstartMD names PerfectRx as its compounded-medication pharmacy partner. The site says the pharmacy ships the prescription and JumpstartMD charges for it. Confirm the actual pharmacy, formulation and quantity for your order; a named partner is not an independent quality certification.
- Does closing the JumpstartMD app account cancel membership?
- No. Platform terms explicitly say closing the account does not terminate membership. A separate patient agreement governs membership termination. Request that agreement and the cancellation deadline before enrolling.
